Helllloooo. I’m Emily. Fifty percent of Noodle Flowers. I say that I’m the creative half.

I’ve had many interests in my years so far. I studied anthropology and photography in undergrad, moved into the healthcare industry for some time, had a change of heart, and now I find myself back in school learning American Sign Language with the intent of one day becoming an interpreter, eventually. All the while, I’ve loved flowers. If we’re pointing fingers, he’s to blame for that. Ten or eleven years ago now, he gifted me with a bouquet that had a yellow English garden rose in it. IYKYK. Leading up to this, I had never seen anything like it. In fact, I was in the camp of – rose hater. Gasp. I’m embarrassed. Anyway, from that day on, I was a changed woman. And then, I wanted to be a flower farmer. And now, I still do.

Now we’re getting somewhere, more like urban flower farmer or learning to be urban flower farmer is more fitting. At the end of 2023, we found home in our little Craftsman in the charming Mentelle neighborhood of Lexington, Kentucky. Living here with the menagerie of critters that are called our children to include: two dogs, two cats, and six little hens. Yes, and my darling dear husband and business partner, pictured above, he’s here too. We’re in this together.

This year, 2025, was the first year that we truly tried our hand at growing many, for us and our backyard, things. What a consuming, informative, and inspiring experience it has been. I’m excited for what’s to come.

Some importance: being decent, and light, funny, and passionate and sometimes, quite particular, and warmth, and laughter, and making art, or trying to, faith to get through, rest, growing flowers, and admiring them, and admiring the creatures that flock to the yard to also admire them. Oh, and noodles. The best food group.

I treasure interesting things, the funky, weird, unusual, the beautiful. This extends to flower forms and varieties. I like something stunning and something different. Give me all the peculiar flowers, please. I want to grow these, and I want to share them with you.

I’m hopeful that one day, we will find the property that we’ve been hankering for all these years. A place where we can have many more flowers, a cow, a donkey, and perhaps, even a pony. A girl can dream, right?

Good day to you! I fancy myself as a doer of things, some better than others, but all provide an opportunity to learn and grow. I spent the majority of my adulthood traveling the globe in service to others while witnessing the good, bad, and very ugly actions of this world. Though still passionate to serve others, it was time to hang that up and be present for my bride while facing the challenge of doing something new. Enthusiastic for craft, woodworking, and flowers have always brought peace to my mind, thus removing distracting noise of daily life. Nature and creating with your own two hands are a catalyst for therapy.

As one could gather, I am the other half to this arrangement. Not sure the math tallies up to the assumed 50% as my bride overshadows with style, grace, design and noticeable beauty; but nonetheless I am here. Here to bring ideas to substance, here to share a journey and vision with my better half, and always here for wit - welcomed or not.

The story of the rose is true. On that day I sowed a seed for what has now blossomed into this. She’s welcome.

TTFN,

-Paul
